Soil Moisture Monitoring and Irrigation Control System

Soil Moisture Monitoring and Irrigation Control System

Description:

The Arduino-based Soil Moisture Monitoring and Irrigation Control System is designed to measure the moisture level in the soil and automate the irrigation process for maintaining optimal conditions for plant growth. Using sensors and actuators, this system provides efficient watering management, ensuring that plants receive adequate moisture without overwatering.

Components:

Operation:

The system continuously monitors the moisture level in the soil using the soil moisture sensor. The Arduino board analyzes the sensor data and determines whether irrigation is required based on predefined moisture thresholds. When the soil moisture falls below a certain threshold indicating dryness, the system activates the water pump or solenoid valve to irrigate the soil. Once the soil reaches the desired moisture level, the irrigation system is automatically turned off to prevent overwatering.

Users can view real-time soil moisture data and irrigation status through an optional LCD display or LED indicators. Integration with a mobile application allows users to remotely monitor soil moisture levels and manually control irrigation from their smartphones or tablets.

The system can be configured with adjustable moisture thresholds and irrigation schedules to suit different plant species and environmental conditions.
